Olympic Torch Relay Coming to Exshaw

DAY 83 WEDNESDAY JANUARY 20, 2010

It is with great excitement that MD of Bighorn Council invites all our residents to come share in a moment of history as the Olympic Torch Relay passes through Exshaw on January 20, 2010. Bighorn is planning a wonderful greeting for the Torch and its dignitaries and we want you here.

Route/Timing:

Our share of the Olympic Torch relay will occur between about 1:45-2:00pm and move from the east end of Exshaw along the 1A Highway to be greeted at the MD administration office.

Help us make this short visit colourful and festive: Dress in the Olympic ring colours that day to celebrate – green, red, blue, light blue or yellow. We will have Olympic Route Relay Flags for everyone.

After the Torch passes along the route, join us at the MD administration office for a brief welcoming and refreshments.

Follow the Torch Relay and other Olympic happenings at: http://www.vancouver2010.com/

Viewing: Best spots will be along Heart Mountain Drive, at the MD office, in front of the Community Hall. Please do not park or stand on the 1A highway.

Parking:There will be no parking available at the MD office during this time as well. Parking will be available on side streets in Exshaw and we will offer a shuttle between Diamond Drive in south Exshaw and the Exshaw Store between 1-1:45pm and then a return after the Torch passes from 2-2:30pm.

Important Note:Our office will be closed between 1-2:30pm in order to facilitate the Torch Relay through our community.

Any updates on our event will be posted here on our website: www.mdbighorn.ca

Hope to see you here in Exshaw January 20th. Remember this is an outdoor event, so dress for the weather.

For the kids– a great craft is to make an Olympic Torch by rolling a piece of construction paper into a cone and then use orange and red tissue paper for flames.
